Cyst Treatment Options
Observation
For small, symptom-free cysts, we may recommend monitoring for any changes rather than immediate treatment.
Incision and Drainage
This procedure offers quick relief for painful, swollen cysts by draining the contents. However, as the cyst sac remains, there's a higher chance of recurrence.
Surgical Excision
For a more permanent solution, the entire cyst, including its sac, is surgically removed, greatly reducing the likelihood of recurrence. This is performed under local anaesthesia.
Antibiotics
If the cyst is infected, antibiotics may be prescribed to treat the infection, although this won’t remove the cyst itself.
Cyst Removal Pricing Dundee

Treatment fees vary based on the nature and complexity of the procedure. A guide to typical pricing can be found on our pricing page.
If preferred, you may submit a quick online enquiry to receive an all-inclusive treatment estimate prior to committing to a consultation. We will respond promptly with tailored guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions : Cyst Removal
Q&A
01 Is parking available at the clinic for Dundee patients?
Yes — free on-site parking is available directly outside the clinic. We’re located in northwest Edinburgh, with straightforward access from Dundee via the A90. However, we would advise that patients avoid driving immediately after a minor procedure. If possible, please arrange for someone to accompany you or consider alternative transport.
02 Can I self-refer for cyst removal?
Yes, a referral isn’t required. You can contact us directly to arrange a consultation with our specialist plastic surgeon.
03 Is same-day treatment an option?
Where appropriate, we can often remove uncomplicated cysts on the same day as your consultation. This will be confirmed once you’ve been assessed.
04 What types of cysts can be removed?
We treat a range of benign skin cysts, including sebaceous, epidermoid, and pilar cysts. Each case is assessed individually to determine the most suitable treatment.
05 What is the recovery like after the procedure?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can resume normal activities within 24 to 48 hours. We'll provide tailored aftercare advice to support healing and reduce scarring.
06 Do you see patients from Dundee?
Yes, many of our patients travel from Dundee and the wider Tayside area for private cyst removal. Our Edinburgh clinic is just over an hour away via the A90 and M90, and we offer fast access to consultant-led care in a discreet setting.
